Everyday menswear, made in South Africa.
Vskonne is a small menswear label based in Johannesburg. We make the pieces we couldn't find ourselves — clean cuts, neutral colours, honest fabrics.
Why we started
South African menswear sits in two camps: cheap and disposable, or imported and overpriced. Vskonne is the middle. Pieces that cost what they should, fit how they should, and last as long as you need.
No loud branding. No drops you have to queue for. Just the basics, done properly, in colours that work with everything else you own.
What we make
Shirts, tees, knitwear, jackets, pants. The shortlist. Every piece is designed so it pairs with three or four others in the range — buy one, it works; buy a few, the wardrobe builds itself.
Where it's made
A mix of South African and overseas partners, chosen piece by piece on what the fabric and the cut actually need. We're honest about where things are made — ask us anytime.
The name
Vskonne is borrowed from Afrikaans "verskoning" — apology, or pardon. We thought of it as the opposite: clothes you never have to apologise for. Quiet, well-cut, dependable.
